'Glitch, Kitch & Things Mother Would Like', a solo exhibition by Dylan Rapillard

20 Mar 2025 – 11 Apr 2025

This exhibition explores still life through simplicity , patience, and the act of slowing down. Drawing inspiration from man made and natural objects found on Dylan Rapillard's beach walks, work and everyday life. He aims transform the ordinary into a space for reflection and contemplation. These objects, while humble, reveal profound meaning when observed with intentionality.

The lemon, vibrant and sharp, symbolizes life’s fleeting nature and resilience. It represents the balance between impermanence and renewal, reminding us of life’s bittersweet transformation. The glitch is a deliberate deconstruction, a visual disruption that challenges perfection and exposes beauty in chaos. It speaks to the fragility of reality, embracing entropy and the value of imperfection. Shells, with their intricate patterns, represent continuity and the cyclical nature of life. Their tactile surfaces invite a meditative exploration of materiality, texture, and repetition.

In Rapillards work, he balances gestural expression with detailed observation, creating tension between abstraction and realism. The tone fluctuates between playful and profound, offering a commentary on life’s transience. Ultimately, his work is an invitation to reflect on the present moment, embracing contradictions, the absurd and finding beauty in imperfection. Through this process, Rapillard explores the ephemeral and the eternal, inviting deeper understanding.
