Biography

Richardo Barrett (b.1990, Nassau, The Bahamas) is a mixed media artist, most well-known for his found object assemblages. Barrett received his associate's degree from The College of The Bahamas in 2012 and during his time as an art student, he participated in a number of exhibitions including the 25th Annual Central Bank Art Competition (2008, receiving Honorable Mention) and the annual exhibition Colour of Harmony at the College of The Bahamas. In 2011, Barrett was awarded the Junior Residency at POPOPstudios ICVA, and the culmination of his work was presented in the exhibition Fallen Transitions. That same year, he was the first recipient of the Antonius Roberts Award, for which he created a series of Onion Lights- using the skin of onions as both colour, object and as a mosquito repellant. His work offers viewers fascinating insights into perspective and reclamation. In 2018, Barrett placed first in the 35th Annual Central Bank Art Competition and had his solo in 2019 called 'Triangles + Squares + Demons: The Bahamas Is A Real Place.'
